COSEAL sealant has the unique ability to chemically crosslink to itself, as well as to tissue and synthetic graft surfaces. COSEAL possesses two types of chemically reactive PEGs that crosslink with each other to form a hydrogel matrix, where one of these PEGs also chemically (i.e covalently) binds to tissue proteins (specifically, amine groups on tissue) or mechanically bonds/locks to synthetic graft materials. COSEAL sealant polymerizes to form a hydrogel which retains its elasticity until resorbed.

COSEAL [Surgical Sealant] is a fully biocompatible synthetic material that does not interact with any components of the coagulation cascade. It is completely resorbed by the body within 30 days of application. And because it contains no human or animal proteins, COSEAL Surgical Sealant carries no risk of viral transmission.
